My earliest memories are of sitting on my father’s lap and asking, “Why are we here? What happens after death?” My whole life has been involved with the search for The Beloved. During  childhood and adolescence I read widely in mythology, literature and philosophy. I began studying meditation and yoga in 1972, astrology in 1980, and entered a graduate Transpersonal (spiritual) Psychology program in 1983. Along the way I explored a wide variety of spiritual and personal growth paths including Eastern religions, women's spirituality, 12-step programs, magick, radical diets and fasting, massage and bodywork. I became a sanyassin of Osho in 1985, and was given the name Ma Dhyan Shaida (“intoxicated with love”). In 1991 I was initiated into Tantra Kriya Yoga by Sunyata Saraswati. I lived in India at the Osho Commune in 1999-2000 studying tantra and meditation. I have had the great fortune to sit with many Realized Beings including Gangaji, Eli, John de Ruiter, and others.

I am in private practice as a psychotherapist specializing in the concerns of spiritual people. I have worked in virtually all aspects of mental heath: private practice, psychiatric hospitals, chemical dependency treatment centers, residential treatment, and consulting nationally with mental health facilities. I taught psychology and counseling at JFK University and for the University of Phoenix. I received my M.A. in Psychology from Antioch University in 1983, my license as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1993 (30784), and am a Certified NLP Practitioner.

During the mid-90’s, I made frequent appearances as a mental health expert on the national TV show “Extra.” My writings have been published in journals, magazines, and books in the US, Finland, and Norway.
